COMMUNITY DISCUSSION GROUP
Join our informal yoga community to read, meditate on and discuss various yoga texts and philosophies.
We meet the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm.
The first meeting of this session is scheduled for Thurs. Sept. 14. We will be discussing "Ahimsa" (non-violence)
The topics for the next sessions will be decided upon by the group at the first meeting
Childcare may be provided if arranged in advance by cost-sharing.
There is no cost to attend the group, however monetary and food donations are appreciated to help cover the costs of heat, snow removal, and snacks for the group etc.
Our discussion group is a co-creative experience. As such there is no teacher per say. We will all come together to equally share our ideas and perspectives on each topic the collective group decides upon.
That said, the group will be moderated by Cindy in order to keep on topic. Cindy has a bachelors degree in World Religions from the University of Toronto with a specialty in Eastern Regions. As such she has spent 4 dedicated years studying, interpreting and analyzing religious and philosophical texts. Her insight and familiarity with the material makes her a natural choice to lead this group. It is the intention that many other experienced yogis will also take a lead in the group and are encouraged to take the lead role as often (or little) as they see fit.
Each meeting will begin with a short yoga practice suitable for all levels, to get our energy moving and make our bodies comfortable so we can sit and discuss with focus.
After the practice there will be a short lecture on the sutra or topic of the meeting. After which we will have an open circle discussion on the topic.
The discussion will end with a silent meditation session.
After the meditation we will have a free social time to talk in smaller groups, connect with like minded folks, and share fellowship and food together.
